Know when a competitor launches a campaign

When a rival pushes a campaign, their social activity moves before their website does. RivalOut compares each week's numbers against the last and emails you when the jump is big enough to mean something.

What sets it off

  • A sharp week-over-week rise in a rival's Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube or X following.
  • Engagement climbing across more than one network at once — the pattern of paid promotion rather than an organic post.
  • Social movement paired with a jump in site visits, which usually means the campaign is landing.
  • You choose which competitors are watched; the trigger is off until you switch it on.

What lands in your inbox

Social-Spike Alert: Acme Corp

Acme Corp's social following rose 22% since your last report, with visits up 18% over the same period. Their last report showed no movement.

Team plans and above can also receive the same alert as a JSON POST to a webhook URL you set in the app.

How to switch it on

Three steps, about two minutes.

1

Add the competitors you want watched.

2

Open Alerts and toggle on the triggers you care about.

3

Wait for the next weekly run. You only hear from us when a threshold is crossed.

Questions

How quickly will I hear about a campaign?

Alerts go out with the weekly report run, every Monday morning. RivalOut compares the new report against your previous one, so the shortest detection window is one week — this is weekly competitor alerting, not real-time interception.

Can I set my own threshold?

Not yet. Thresholds are fixed in the product today and tuned to suppress routine week-to-week noise. What you control is which competitors are tracked and which alert types are switched on.

Does it tell me what the campaign actually is?

It tells you the movement and where it happened, so you know which rival and which channel to go look at. It does not capture the creative itself.

How do I get alerts somewhere other than email?

Every plan gets email. On Team and above you can add a webhook URL in the app, and each alert is also POSTed there as JSON.
